Children's Furniture
Using a Small Space. Well.
The house was old, built by the owner in the early 1900s. It had sagging floors and not-quite-square- or plumb walls. The bedroom was roughly 8’x8’ and had to provide space for a 2-year-old and a newborn. The solution was to have the furniture touch the floor in just three places so that it could be easily plumbed and squared; to have all the shelves, closets, and drawers hung from the upper frame; and to provide large openings for a bed and crib.
To add to the joyfulness of a child’s room, an alphabet was painted on the walls and geometric shapes were painted on the ceiling.
All components were assembled solely with glue and dowels; no nails or screws were used.
